August 2026: Our community, members, volunteers, beachgoers and the Public Works Department have all done such a great job keeping our beaches clean that our August beach cleanup didn’t take long. So once finished we loaded the van and went a few blocks north to the traffic island at the corner of Monroe St. & Harrison Ave. Affectionately known as “Simon’s Island,” it was in need of some T.L.C., and now it resembles an island paradise once again!
Many thanks to our friends from the Hilton Garden Inn in Milford for filling the van and helping out! You’re the best! 🙂
July 2026: Thanks to grants by Surfrider~Connecticut Chapter and the Walnut Beach Association, the Mackenzie’s Beach Cleanup Kiosk is restocked. Trash bags for individual cleanups are available, and soon Garbo Grabbers will be there for you to conduct your own individual beach cleanups! Please make sure the grabbers are put back in the kiosk once finished.
